How PatchPilot Works

A simple system for discovering issues, deciding what matters, and keeping your home in great shape.

The Problem We're Solving

Most homeowners are juggling home maintenance in a scattered way: issues tracked in Notes, photos in Camera Roll, contractor info in texts, and repair decisions made from memory. When something breaks, you're starting from scratch.

PatchPilot gives you a single, organized system for discovering what needs attention, deciding what to do about it, and tracking it through completion—without needing a spreadsheet or contractor expertise.

Your PatchPilot Workflow

From discovery to completion—here's how it all works together

Step 1 • Discover

Run a Guided Home Inspection

Walk through your home with our 10-minute guided checklist. We ask simple questions about 5 key areas: Exterior, Water Systems, Climate Control, Electrical, and Interior. No expertise required—just "Looking Good," "Flag for Follow-Up," or "Not Sure."

What you get:

  • A complete picture of your home's condition
  • Items flagged for follow-up automatically become tracked issues
  • Helpful "what to watch for" guidance on potential problems
Step 2 • Track

Manage Your Tracked Issues

Every flagged item becomes a tracked issue with all the details in one place: what it is, where it is, priority level, photos, suspected cause, and suggested next steps. You can add issues manually anytime, too.

Built-in privacy protection:

  • Photos are automatically stripped of location data and metadata
  • All data stored securely with row-level security
Step 3 • Decide

Prioritize What Matters

Your Command Center dashboard shows all tracked issues with priority levels (Critical, High, Medium, Low) and status tags. See at a glance what needs immediate attention and what can wait.

Priority levels help you decide:

  • CRITICALSafety hazards, active water damage, structural concerns
  • HIGHWill get worse if ignored, potential for damage
  • MEDIUMImportant but not urgent, plan within 3-6 months
  • LOWNice to have, cosmetic, or preventive maintenance
Step 4 • Act

Track Contractors & Quotes

Store contractor contact info, specialties, ratings, and notes. Link multiple quotes to issues so you can compare pricing, scope, and timeline all in one place. No more digging through texts or email.

Track for each contractor:

Contact info
Specialties
Star rating
Multiple quotes
Notes & timeline
Quote comparisons
Step 5 • Plan

Stay on Budget

Create budget items with planned amounts and date ranges. Link them to multiple issues to see the big picture. Track actual spending as work gets done. See exactly where your money is going.

Budget tracking includes:

  • Planned vs. actual spending
  • Category organization (Repairs, Improvements, etc.)
  • Date ranges for planning (not just monthly)
  • Link budget items to multiple related issues
Step 6 • Maintain

Seasonal Reminders

After completing your first inspection, opt into seasonal reminders. We'll email you when it's time to check your home again—whether that's every season, quarterly, or at custom intervals.

Stay proactive: Catch small issues before they become expensive problems. Regular check-ins help you maintain your home's value and avoid surprise repairs.

Built for Homeowners, Not Contractors

Owning a home comes with a long, quiet list of things you know you should deal with — the dripping faucet, the weird stain, the thing you said you'd Google. PatchPilot helps you get it out of your head and into a clear, prioritized plan.

Track issues before they become emergencies. Know what's urgent and what can wait. Stop second-guessing yourself every time something breaks.

We're not built for contractors, property managers, or anyone who needs enterprise-level project tools. We're built for people who just want to take better care of their home — without it becoming a part-time job.

Best Practices

Start with the guided inspection

Even if you already know some issues, the guided checklist helps you build a complete picture. You can always add more issues manually later.

Take photos as you go

Visual documentation helps contractors give accurate quotes and helps you remember the issue later. Don't worry—we automatically remove location data from your photos.

Trust the priority levels

Critical and High priority items should be addressed first. Medium can wait 3-6 months. Low priority is for planning ahead or cosmetic improvements.

Get at least 3 quotes for major work

Use the contractor tracking to compare quotes side-by-side. Pay attention to scope differences, not just price. The cheapest quote isn't always the best value.

Re-inspect seasonally

Opt into seasonal reminders after your first inspection. Regular check-ins help you catch small issues before they become expensive emergencies.
